When I started Western NY Dumpster Rentals, one of my biggest goals was to keep things simple and completely transparent for my customers. I’ve rented equipment and hired services myself, and I know how frustrating it is to be hit with hidden fees or unclear charges. That’s why our pricing is straightforward — no surprises, no fine print.
The Simple Math Behind Our Pricing
The equation is easy to understand:
- Dump fees are a fixed cost for every rental. In our area, the average dump fee is about $100 per ton with a 1-ton minimum, so every rental includes that cost.
- If your load weighs more than 1 ton, any extra weight is simply charged to you at the exact rate the dump charges — no markup.
-
Overhead costs for running the business include:
- Commercial auto insurance (by far the largest expense)
- Business liability insurance
- Trailer insurance
- The purchase and maintenance of the dump trailer itself
Because it’s just me handling all drop-offs, pickups, and trips to the dump, I’m able to keep my costs lower than larger companies with multiple employees on the payroll and higher insurance premiums. And when my costs are lower, your costs are lower.
How This Works for You
The size of the dumpster doesn’t really affect the base price — all rentals include 1 ton of disposal in the price. Any overage is billed at the actual dump rate, with no hidden fees.
The only other portion of the rental fee is to cover my overhead and the time it takes to deliver, pick up, and unload the dumpster. No mystery surcharges. No random “service fees.”
Opportunity Cost — Why We Include 3 Days
When a dump trailer is rented out, it can’t be rented to someone else at the same time. That’s called opportunity cost — the missed opportunity to serve another customer while the trailer is in use.
We feel that including 3 full days with every rental is a generous amount of time. Most residential customers are able to load the dumpster in a single day, so 3 days is usually more than enough. In fact, more often than not, I end up picking it up early to get it out of the way as soon as possible. This approach balances flexibility for you with keeping the trailer available for others who may need it right after.
Why I Do It This Way
I believe that when you know exactly what you’re paying for, you can budget with confidence. By being transparent and keeping my operation lean, I’m able to pass those savings right back to the community — and that’s exactly why I started this business in the first place.
